The news about a third season of the popular Japanese anime One Punch Man was announced this week. One-Punch Man (ワンパンマン) is a Japanese superhero manga series created by One. It tells the story of Saitama, a superhero who, because he can defeat any opponent with a single punch, grows bored from a lack of challenge. One wrote the original web-comic manga version in early 2009.

An anime adaptation produced by Madhouse was broadcast in Japan from October to December 2015. A second season, produced by J.C. Staff, was broadcast from April to July 2019. Details about the 3rd season have not been given yet.

Here’s the Twitter announcement:

3 long years have passed since Season 2 was shown – and it was not well received by critics. However, no one can discount the awesomeness of the first season – the visuals, the storyline, the character development, the fight scenes (most definitely!), and everything else.

IGN further adds:

One Punch Man’s upcoming third season is being developed alongside a live-action film adaptation, which will be written by Venom’s Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinker, with former Fast X director Justin Lin slated to direct. This movie joins several other live-action anime adaptations, including a Netflix series based on One Piece, the perpetually troubled Akira remake, and a reimagined version of Your Name.
